Definition
Capacity is defined as the quantity of resources available to undertake tangible and efficient work. It also underlines the concept used to help establish a WIP limit, by ensuring that we start only that task with regards to our capacity to complete it on time.

Origin
From late Middle English: from French capacité, from Latin capacitas, from capax, capac- ‘that can contain’, from capere ‘take or hold’. Used in software development since 1970’s.

Bottleneck | Glossary

Definition

A bottleneck is defined as a congestion or impasse in a system, that occurs when workload or dependency on a particular unit or team member is more than what they can handle at that point of time.

Origin
It is derived from the flowing of water, through a narrow mouthed bottle where the flow of water, is constrained by the size of its neck.
