Epic | Glossary

Definition
An Epic is a large user story, which is eventually broken down into smaller user stories. Epics are often used as placeholders for new ideas, that have not been thought out fully. Epic stories help Agile teams manage their Product Backlog efficiently, and carry out tasks with clarity and focus.

Origin
Coined by Mike Cohn, to signify the size of the user story at hand.

Design Thinking | Glossary

Definition
Design thinking defines creative strategies used by designers to match people’s needs with what is technologically feasible, and defining a viable business strategy that can be converted into customer value and market opportunity.

Origin
The notion of design as a “way of thinking” in the sciences can be traced to Herbert A. Simon’s 1969 book The Sciences of the Artificial,and in design engineering to Robert McKim’s 1973 book Experiences in Visual Thinking.
