Definition:

Individualism is a moral stance, ideology that emphasises the moral worth of the individual, habit or principle of being independent and self-reliant. Individuals prefer to function as individuals rather than as a part of a group, having tendency towards self-creation and experimentation.

Individualism makes the individual focus, promote the exercise on one’s own goals and desires valuing independence and self reliance. A social theory favouring freedom of action for individuals over collective or state control.
