INVEST | Glossary

Definition

INVEST is an acronym for a widely accepted set of criteria (or checklist), that assesses the quality of a user story. Failing to meet even one criteria, may lead to the team rephrasing/rewriting the entire story. The criteria met should be:

  • Independent
  • Negotiable
  • Valuable
  • Estimable
  • Small
  • Testable
