In the complex world, leadership plays a crucial role. The responsibility of the leader lies in enabling the team members towards facilitation. We have recently featured Shane Hastie in a Video Interview with us where he shared valuable experiences and thoughts on leadership. He answered many of our questions on the shift towards Agile transformation. He says copying the old business model doesn’t make any change for the organization also known as imposition of Agile.
We also discussed different aspects of how to bring people on a journey and to co-create the Agility that is needed in your organization. He said “An agile leader is a coach and mentor, helping their followers to become the best possible versions of themselves”. He distinguished the difference between coach and consultant and their importance to the organization during Agile transformation. He shared his thoughts around Agile Transformation with the wonderful saying “Don’t Impose Agility, Invite Agility” and many more experiences and examples.

Shane Hastie is the Director of Agile Learning Programs for ICAgile.Over the last 30+ years Shane has been a practitioner and leader of developers, testers, trainers, project managers and business analysts, helping teams to deliver results that align with overall business objectives. He has worked with large and small organisations, from individual teams to large transformations all around the world. He draws on over 30 years of practical experience across all levels of Information Technology and software intensive product development. Shane was a director of the Agile Alliance from 2011 to 2016 and is the founding Chair of Agile Alliance New Zealand.
