Cross Functional Team | Glossary

Definition

Cross-functional teams involve a distribution of varied skill sets across different team members, in order to build a synchronicity and rhythm of workflow that helps it being more efficient and solve problems faster. A Cross- Functional team should ideally be self-organizing.

It is a sensible approach to allow the team to discover the optimum way to do their job and overcome obstacles. It does not however allow everyone to do every task at all time, nor does it allow for the restrictions of specializations. Skills do not have to homogeneously distributed.

Metrics | Glossary

Definition

A wide range of metrics are available to Agile Project Managers to choose from and display various types of progress/ evaluation at both the iteration and release levels. The deeper the Managers understand metrics, the more effectively they will be able to communicate the progress to Project Stakeholders.

Metrics are used in daily meetings, iteration delta tables, release and burn-down charts, progress reports, value management and in running tested features. With metrics, one can also track the iteration back to release.
