Overview:
This book is drawn from a decade of research and highlights the human and organisational dimension of software improvement processes and software project management, be it based on CMM or ISO 9000 or the Rational Unified Process. The contents of the book focuses on practices based on common-sense.
Jim and Neil, the authors have put forward general but concrete principles – every pattern is its own built-in example. Grady Booch, IBM Fellow describes the book as remarkably wise, full of pragmatic advice drawn from real projects. He adds that software development is a human experience and Jim and Neil have captured the essence of that experience.
It is a good read for a layperson, too.
