Epic | Glossary

Definition
An Epic is a large user story, which is eventually broken down into smaller user stories. Epics are often used as placeholders for new ideas, that have not been thought out fully. Epic stories help Agile teams manage their Product Backlog efficiently, and carry out tasks with clarity and focus.

Origin
Coined by Mike Cohn, to signify the size of the user story at hand.
